INDECLINE
INDECLINE is an American art collective. Members have said that the collective was formed in 2001 and is decentralized, with "dozens" of members in affiliated groups in several US states and a few foreign countries, and have characterized it as "an underground movement of activists, musicians, graffiti writers, and photographers".
A CLOWN CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER
In August of 2018 the art collective known as INDECLINE painted over a billboard on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles with the following quote by notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy “A clown can get away with murder,” a reference to the fact that Gacy often dressed as a clown for various charity events and children's parties. The installation was directly inspired by a statement made by then presidential candidate Donald Trump at a 2016 campaign rally in Iowa "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose voters."
